brickyard bronzes

This painting series imagines a more accepting United States through the lens of athletics. Though sports such as basketball and stock car racing are largely masculine spaces in the U.S., there is clear opportunity for equal competition that showcases women and gender non-binary folks. If the same people who follow these sports also opened-up the field to a broader diversity of gender and ethnic representation, there may be decreased social violence, and an increase in strategy and diplomacy at large. Pattern motifs of quilts and chevrons allude to the American regions that merge sports with heritage, featuring herringbone traction patterns on tires and sneaks.
